Curating the University of Dundee Museums
Matthew Jarron
The University of Dundee holds an outstanding collection of over 34,000 objects, including over 9,000 works of art and design. The collection is displayed in both permanent and temporary spaces across three campuses and beyond, and in this illustrated talk, museum curator Matthew Jarron will discuss the history and development of the collection, with a particular focus on art.
Matthew Jarron has been Curator of the University of Dundee Museums since 2001. He is the author and/or editor of several books including Independent & Individualist: Art in Dundee 1867-1924 (2015). He is Secretary of the Abertay Historical Society, co-ordinator of the Public Art Dundee project, Chair of the Scotland & Medicine partnership and is a committee member and a former Chair of the Scottish Society for Art History.
